Daughter of Yggdrasil
Daughter of Yggdrasil is a sentient tree Eidolon that manifests to provide food and sustenance for communities in need. The tree produces flowers and fruits rapidly, allowing climbers to harvest from its canopy.
Manifestation Process
Daughters of Yggdrasil are created through Alteration by weaving together specific conceptual ideas. The summoner calls to mind ideas including “Abundance” (described as prolific) and “Generosity” (described as immense), along with other luxuriant concepts. These ideas are propagated and woven together using threads of Mana intertwining with earth’s Mana.
The sentient tree spreads out manifesting root and trunk, then branches and foliage. She opens her eyes as her canopy becomes covered in flowers, which then transform into fruits.
Physical Form and Behavior
The Daughter appears as a complete tree with roots, trunk, branches, and foliage. She has eyes that open upon manifestation. Her canopy produces flowers that quickly develop into harvestable fruits.
The Daughter displays awareness and emotion. She smiles at children who approach her, allows them to climb her branches, and rustles her leaves in a manner compared to laughter. She appears welcoming and generous toward those who come to her.
Purpose and Sustainability
Daughters of Yggdrasil provide food for communities facing famine or food scarcity. The summoner must spend substantial Mana to make the tree’s gifts endure beyond the initial manifestation, calling upon life-giving earth and its wealth to sustain the Eidolon’s presence and productivity.
Summoning Instance
388 AC - Arjun Helping Village
A village faced food crisis after a surprise freeze killed seedlings the previous spring. Wild beasts made frequent incursions into fields, likely driven by hunger from crop failures caused by unexpected cold. Village elders approached Arjun for help, needing to get through winter and the Season of Mists before they could sow again.
Arjun assessed the soil by kneeling and grabbing a handful. Through the Skein, the soil was fertile and seeking to sustain life. In the center of the meadow, Arjun set Spike down and prepared to use Alteration with threads of Mana intertwining with earth’s Mana.
Arjun focused on the ideas forming a Daughter of Yggdrasil - weaving “Abundance,” “Generosity,” and luxuriant concepts together. The sentient tree spread out before Arjun with root, trunk, branches, and foliage. She opened her eyes as flowers covered her canopy, then fruits appeared.
Children ran toward the Daughter first. She smiled at them and let them climb her while rustling her leaves as if laughing. Arjun called upon life-giving earth and its wealth to spend the necessary Mana to make the tree’s gifts endure.
