Themba Hekekia
Overview
Themba Hekekia was a Muna botanist specializing in rare plants who discovered the cure for The Nifir, a plague that had ravaged Asgartha for nearly seventy-five years. Following in his father’s footsteps as a naturalist, he dedicated himself to finding a cure after his father died from the disease.
Background
Discovery of the Cure
Hekekia stumbled upon the cure almost by accident while studying the mushs, a family of sentient mushrooms. Over time, these conscious fungi accepted him into their forest and underground colonies, allowing him to study their ecosystems and customs. He discovered that mushs could filter Mana from the environment and living beings, transforming unstable Mana into appeased Mana by passing it through their bodies.
This discovery proved crucial in curing the Nifir. Mush spores were distributed across the Peninsula, growing into adult mushs whose mycelium could extract unstable Mana and return purified Mana. Within a few years, the Nifir was eradicated from Asgartha.
