Morwen Durward
Overview
Morwen Durward was Basileus of Asgartha, reigning from 254-264 AC. They succeeded Marcus Sune in 254 AC.
Founding the Republic
The end of the Civil War marked the beginning of the period known as the “Consolidation” of the Asgarthan Protectorate. Morwen Durward realized Marcus Sune’s predecessor’s dream of transforming the Kingdom into a Republic.
Durward abdicateand convened a democratic referendum to establish the foundations of the new Constitution, leaning towards participatory democracy where the people shape policy in close collaboration with elected officials.
Re-Election and Resignation
Following new elections, Durward was re-elected as Basileus. However, they resigned voluntarily in 264 AC, at the end of their 10-year term in office.
