Sap Sniffer
Sap Sniffers are mole-like creatures employed by Axiom prospectors to detect sources of Sap within the City of Scholars.
Appearance
Sniffers are small, furry animals resembling moles, equipped with large claws for digging and strong teeth for gnawing thick roots. They wear protective goggles over their wide eyes.
Behavior
Sniffers possess an exceptional ability to detect Sap deposits. Their affinity for the substance is so strong that they sometimes take great risks to reach locations containing it, eagerly climbing into dangerous areas among the engraved stones deep within the city to savor amber drops.
Sap Affinity
Sniffers exhibit intense excitement when near Sap sources and calm immediately upon consuming the substance, sitting on their hindquarters and gazing at their handlers with wide eyes. This behavior pattern and their eagerness to seek out Sap has raised questions about whether the creatures develop addiction to the substance.
Usage
Prospectors use Sniffers on leashes to locate Sap veins throughout the City of Scholars. The animals guide their handlers through the labyrinthine streets of the underground city, detecting deposits that might otherwise remain hidden. Sap couriers like Aberdeen transport Sniffers in delivery coolers, where the creatures attempt to hoard collected Sap containers as personal property.
