Strand Region

The Strand Region is a geographic area within the province of Caer Oorun, located north-east of Caer Oorun’s central areas and approximately 186 miles from Arkaster. The region is positioned north of marshlands and contains the ruins of Calida, a pre-Confluence hot spring station.

Geography

The Strand is a coastal marshy area, with calm and shallow waters. To navigate within this bayou, one must move between giant lily pads and disproportionately large lotuses. But one must not be fooled by this apparent serenity—beneath the surface, masked by the water lens, many predators seek their prey.

The region provides coastal access to the Cierna, making it strategically valuable for exploring coastal territories. The presence of hot springs at Calida indicates geothermal activity within the region, with water temperatures reaching approximately forty degrees Celsius at the ancient settlement site.

Historical Significance

Historical records from The Sanctum contained scattered references to a human enclave beyond the Strand, north of the marshlands. This enclave included Calida, which functioned as a popular retreat for the fledgling Asgarthan population during the pre-Confluence era.

392 AC - Rediscovery Endeavor Activities

In November 392 AC, Waru Toowoom led efforts to locate and excavate Calida based on information gathered from The Sanctum. The expedition established itself in the Strand Region with approximately forty explorers, including scholars from the Historians’ Guild and prospectors from the Axiom faction.

The expedition’s goals included:

• Unearthing the potential ruins of Calida
• Setting up an advanced base for exploring the coastal regions of the Cierna
• Conducting archaeological research on pre-Confluence settlements
