Hellequin

Overview

Hellequin are Muna hunting and tracking specialists. They are experts in handling dangerous situations and know how to deal death when necessary. Some Hellequin bear the mark of The Reapers, a subgroup distinguished by their particularly lethal reputation. They are recognizable by their antler headdresses.

Traditions

Requiem Horns

Hellequin hunters blow an ominous requiem melody through their horns when driving prey into traps, signaling the imminent death of their quarry.

Tears of Duty

When Hellequin are forced to take lives to maintain the balance of nature, they ritually shed “tears of duty” for the creatures they kill. This practice reflects their solemn acknowledgment of the cost of their mission.

Wild Hunt

Hellequin traditionally call upon Arawn, an Eidolon who presides over the Wild Hunt, to track down wrongdoers. This practice has been adapted during the Rediscovery Endeavor to locate missing expedition members.

Capabilities

Hellequin hunters possess expertise in tracking and protecting expedition members from external threats. Many invoke the senses of nocturnal predators through Alteration—barn owls, bats, or caracals—rather than relying on conventional light sources in dark environments.

Role in Rediscovery Endeavor

During the Rediscovery Endeavor, many Muna were requisitioned to work on The Farm and surrounding pastures at The Screed, leaving exploration of the City below to those with expertise in handling danger. Hellequin trackers accompanied descent teams into The Crow’s Eye, providing protection for mediators like Teija.
