The Farm
Overview
The Farm is a Muna agricultural complex at The Screed, established in 393 AC under the patronage of Gran Bwa. It serves as the primary food supply for The Mess and the broader Expeditionary Corps.
Location and Structure
The Farm was formed through a single act of Alteration, entwining the facility with a gigantic cypress tree—the largest in all of The Screed. Barns, silos, and granaries are naturally embedded in the trunk to benefit from its cover and consistent temperature. A windmill turns at leisurely pace, fanned by wind blowing over the Screed, while dense cypress foliage stirs and rustles above. The surrounding area has been transformed into wheat fields, vineyards, orchards, and vegetable gardens providing fruits, tubers, and legumes.
Operations
The Farm maintains high yields as its top priority to supply The Mess with quality ingredients. An annex houses the Expeditionary Corps’ pack and livestock animals previously confined to The Ouroboros, resulting in flocks of sheep tended by shepherds across the plains of the Screed.
Many Muna were requisitioned to work on The Farm and surrounding pastures during the Rediscovery Endeavor, leaving exploration of the City of Scholars to specialized Hellequin hunters.
Botanical Research
Alongside food production, The Farm hosts botanical workshops analyzing properties of newly discovered plant life: medicinal herbs, toxic shrubs, and edible berries. In coordination with the Axiom, Ordis, and occasionally the Yzmir, the Muna compile a herbarium cataloging traits of unknown flora.
393 AC - Sap as Fertilizer
The Farm began using the golden Sap extracted from the City of Scholars as fertilizer, adding to the substance’s versatile applications across the expedition.
393 AC - Sap Warning
Waru Toowoom issued a warning to The Farm to stop using Sap for crops, citing insufficient evidence of the substance’s safety and the need to investigate what triggered the City of Scholars’ decline, though he requested a gradual transition rather than administrative closure.
