Card Lore Timeline

391 AC - Nevenka’s Cheating Incident

Two large brutes dragged Nevenka by armpits toward empty blackjack table. Threw her onto chair with great savagery and placed hands size of bicycle wheels on shoulders. One grimaced revealing teeth and canines while nostrils snorted threateningly.

Blood-red mist welled up in air like cotton wool. Smelled of iron. In ominous conflagration Asmodeus appeared immense with wings spread to ceiling, horns gigantic as elephant tusks, macabre laughter echoing throughout casino. Flaming crown floated above head with two sparkling blood-red rubies shining.

Red-skinned boy waved at Nevenka trying to get attention. Gave look both inquiring and bit bored. One of brutes handed him loaded dice Nevenka was using. Examined them then burst into laughter. Nevenka started to laugh with him while brutes looked on stone-faced.

Once stopped laughing clasped hands together conspiratorially. Part where bargain struck and deal made. Phrase referenced: “give the devil his due.”

392 AC - Musical Performance Manifestation

During Fen and Crowbar’s musical transformation performance, laugh of Asmodeus echoed in night. Ground broke apart and started to boil all around. Molten lava flowed from cracks lighting up darkness with hellish glow.

Tale Events

At the Ouroboros Casino (392 AC)

Asmodeus was present at casino aboard Ouroboros during preparations for Rediscovery Endeavor departure. Eidolon observed gambling at tables, letting out booming laughter, and sweeping table.

Waru Toowoom noted Asmodeus’s presence and distinctive laughter while making way through casino to secret meeting.

Deal-Making and Bargaining

Asmodeus engages in conspiratorial bargaining with individuals who attempt to cheat at gambling. When caught with loaded dice, Nevenka noted this was “part where we bargain and strike a deal” suggesting established pattern of Eidolon making deals with cheaters rather than simply punishing them.

Reference to “give the devil his due” indicates cultural association between Asmodeus and devil archetype from pre-Confluence mythology.
