The Ouroboros

Overview

The Ouroboros is a Sahanka that accommodates nearly a thousand nomads. It is the home of the Kasirga Clan.

Architecture

This colossal structure soars over the landscapes of Asgartha in the form of a ring engraved with thousands of frescoes and bas-reliefs. The Ouroboros slowly rotates, like the wheel of a cart, held aloft by a core of aerolith embedded at its center.

Inside the ring, surrounding the aerolith core, numerous dwellings have been constructed on a complex, stationary scaffold, a maze of ladders, stairs, platforms, beams, and walkways. It is a true ship-city that unfolds there, with its buildings, monuments, and town hall.

Natural Phenomena

The Ouroboros is constantly accompanied by flocks of birds, which migrate at the same time as this Lyra caravan moves.

Artistic Specialty

The artistic specialty of the Kasirga Clan community revolves around aerial acrobatics and gymnastics, as well as tightrope walking.

Role in Rediscovery Endeavor

392 AC - Mobile Outpost Conversion

In 392 AC, the Kasirga Clan offered the Ouroboros to serve as the mobile outpost for the Rediscovery Endeavor’s exploration forces. The Axiom makers worked on the hull to protect it from The Tumult, transforming the Sahanka that had been the Clan’s home for centuries into a flagship for the expedition.

Admiral Temera Singh took residence within the Ouroboros along with her staff. The Clan was forced to build numerous additional barracks to accommodate the military personnel. Fortunately, the expedition did not interfere with the casino, taverns, and entertainment halls of the flying Kasirga city, maintaining troop morale while far from Asgartha.

The conversion left the Ouroboros almost deserted of its original Lyra inhabitants, as most scattered with the Wind while the work was completed. Some settled in the Ruzzante district of Arkaster, while others tried their luck in other cities or isolated themselves in bucolic chalets.

Command Structure

While Admiral Temera Singh commanded the vessel during military operations, the Ouroboros remained under the ultimate authority of Esmeralda, Shepherdess of the Kasirga Clan. This dual authority was highlighted during planning for the Kraken battle, when Rustam Suratov clarified that while the Admiral commanded operations, final decisions rested with Esmeralda as the Ouroboros hosted the civilian Sahanka population.

392 AC - Kraken Battle

During the battle against Kraken, Admiral Temera Singh made the bold strategic decision to use the Ouroboros itself as bait to lure the Leviathan. The gargantuan flying fortress raced over churning waves with the Kasirga Clan’s ring tilting and weaving between jagged cliffs and sharp stacks.

The Ouroboros approached the jaws of a trap while pursued by the enraged Leviathan. The vessel sustained structural damage to the hull during the chase, including a port side impact that damaged hold level four, though the stabilizer ring remained intact. The Admiral ordered evasive maneuvers and sonic mine deployment to slow the pursuing Kraken.

393 AC, January - Exalt Gathering Point

In January 393 AC, all Exalts were summoned to gather for strategic planning. Waru Toowoom made sure he would be aboard the Ouroboros when Avkan ruun-Heshkari arrived for a meeting regarding succession arrangements.

The Ouroboros high command set the next destination for the expedition: a luminescent mountain to the west of Marsa. This decision marked the expedition’s preparation to leave the borders of the Known World and enter the heart of the true Tumult.

393 AC, January - Storhvit Support Operations

In January 393 AC, in coordination with Expeditionary Corps team leaders, a decision was made to deploy contingents of explorers using the Ouroboros to assist the Exalts in Storhvit when Tumult currents were sufficiently calm. The Exalts and select Alterers would shield these troops from The Tumult, while the explorers would provide relief from the cold and direct support during the journey through the harsh winter region.

The Casino

The Ouroboros is also known for another, much more controversial specialty: the Sahanka hosts a renowned casino, where all those who wish to engage in games of chance flock. Cards, dice, roulette wheels, and slot machines are spread out in a dim, voluptuous, and feverish atmosphere, awaiting anyone who wishes to wager a few Florets.
