Maanus is a Bravos beater and spotter serving with The Ascalon. A former woodcutter, he joined the Leviathan hunters after losing everything.

Background

Maanus was previously a woodcutter before joining The Ascalon. He confided his life story to Sol—where he came from, his previous occupation, and how everything was taken from him. Beneath his calm exterior lies intense resentment.

Personality

Maanus is taciturn and reserved where other Ascalon members are outgoing and enthusiastic. He often sits alone polishing his conch rather than drinking at the bar with the crew. Despite his wrestler-like build appearing awkward for work requiring agility, he compensates with keen observation and unfailing tenacity.

Equipment

Maanus carries a conch shell that serves multiple purposes: as a horn to sound attack alarms and as a trumpet to play morning melodies at dawn. The Ascalon crew grew accustomed to his cheerful morning notes signaling the start of each day.

Maanus boarded AES Tempest to track Halua and coordinate the attack from the deck, transmitting final instructions to the lancers via Morse code signals as the battleship lured the Leviathan into the trap.
