Janek Janno

Overview

Janek Janno was mechanic and father of Vaike Swiftwater. Along with partner Wauna Swiftwater, operated JSW Mehaanika workshop in Sadracca shipyards. Previously conscripted to build warships during Civil War before devoting himself to public works after years of conflict.

JSW Mehaanika Workshop

Janek and Wauna Swiftwater were simple mechanics who preferred relative comfort of workshop JSW Mehaanika to open air. As independents, they worked with small firms focused on research and development rather than mass production. Workshop hosted revolving door of clients—engineers and inventors who stayed weeks, months, or years developing ideas with couple’s mechanical expertise. Clients came from across Peninsula including Amorgand, Sojourn, and capital.

Civil War Service

During Civil War, Janek conscripted to build warships. After years of war ended, longed for stability and finally able to devote himself to public works alongside Wauna Swiftwater.

Anuar Binbasaki Project - 266 AC

When inventor Anuar Binbasaki brought Kelon nugget hoping to create new kind of lightbulb, Janek and Wauna built devices for weeks including mirror arrays to concentrate light and contraptions to “excite” material. One experiment caused short circuit that fried every generator in workshop. Binbasaki abandoned project out of funds and patience.

Supporting Vaike’s Research

Janek’s workshop environment nurtured daughter Vaike’s curiosity and innovation from young age. After weeks of pleading, Janek and Wauna helped fund Vaike’s Kelon materials during her experimental research. Workshop continued operating even during Ordis occupation of Sadracca in 293 AC, with soldiers routinely visiting while Vaike conducted secret energy research.
