Sojourn
Overview
Sojourn is a city in Caer Arcolano with a population of approximately 17,000 inhabitants. It is the twin city to Svarogard on the peninsula of Anthea.
History
Fortress Origins
Sojourn was once an impregnable fortress that ensured the safety of the delta before the Covenant was ratified.
Naming
During the construction of the Transasgarthan railway, Kaja ruun-Aksoy, then Basilissa, established herself in this place to personally oversee the construction of the bridge connecting Anthea to Enosha, despite the controversy of her self-imposed exile. The city, then a simple enclave, paid tribute to her extended stay by taking the name of Sojourn.
Current Role
Sojourn still regulates delta traffic today, especially the narrow fjord that connects the Biela to the Muir Concordia.
Historical Maritime Role
Before the inauguration of the Sundström Route, the Shawl passage created such a bottleneck for ships transporting ores from Suspira that the estuary was completely crowded. This traffic jam forced many vessels to anchor off Sojourn, sometimes for days, before finally embarking on the journey to Arkaster.
