Turuun

Turuun is an elderly Muna priestess who serves as a diplomat between the human world and the world of beasts. She facilitated Rin and Orchid’s Musubi ceremony and guided them through their training to become Exalts.

Physical Appearance

Turuun is described as an old woman with parchment skin. She is venerable in age and appearance.

Role and Responsibilities

Turuun is a priestess versed in natural ways and has dedicated her life to serving as a bridge between the human world and that of beasts. She combines religious and diplomatic functions within the Muna Faction.

Yonago described her as a venerable Muna who would know how to proceed with the Musubi ceremony when Rin wanted to bond with Orchid. He told Rin that he would introduce her to Turuun at the next market.

The Muna Temple in Amorgand

Turuun receives visitors at the Muna temple in Amorgand, which is built on a colorful and converted schooner turned sanctuary. The air inside is saturated with incense, musk, and other unknown scents. This converted boat serves as a sacred space for Muna religious and ceremonial functions.

Meeting with Rin

When Rin presented herself at the temple, Turuun received her and listened attentively to her story and desire to bond with Orchid. Turuun spoke to Rin about Musubi and the Muna, sharing knowledge about the Faction and its practices. Rin drank in her words, fascinated by what she learned. Everything Turuun said resonated with Rin’s being.

Facilitating the Musubi

After meeting with Rin in Amorgand, Turuun guided Rin and Orchid through the process of bonding. The envisaged months of training turned into years. Rin and Orchid accompanied Turuun to the Spindle and the Bark Refuge, where they underwent the Musubi ceremony.

Through Turuun’s facilitation, Rin and Orchid became an Exalt and joined the Muna family. The ceremony successfully bonded them so that they could converse constantly through their thoughts and became a single being, a single soul.

Knowledge and Teaching

Turuun possesses extensive knowledge about:
