Persephone

Overview

Persephone is an Eidolon goddess whose arrival is said to herald the return of spring. When summoned, her presence causes snow to melt and dormant tree spirits to awaken.

Manifestation

Persephone appears seated on a stele with a book in hand. The reading imagery draws from summoners’ memories of mentors taking reading breaks during travels.

Abilities

Spring Herald

Persephone’s presence causes snowbanks to melt and awakens dormant tree spirits. Old spirits including manifestations of oak, chestnut, and beech trees approach her as if asking whether spring has returned and if it is time to wake.

Ecological Impact

Summoning Persephone in arctic environments disrupts established ecosystems. At Storvhit, her appearance melted snow that Winter Folk and Hakupopo depended upon, causing disharmony in the carefully balanced biome.

Timeline

~393 AC - Summoned by Rin at Storvhit

Rin summoned Persephone in frozen northern forest at Storvhit where dead tree trunks suggested winter had suddenly swept into once-temperate region. The goddess appeared on her stele, and as snowbanks melted in her presence, old tree spirits including oak, chestnut, and beech manifestations awakened and approached her. Saskia Averina later scolded Rin for the careless summoning, calling it a “rookie mistake” that disrupted the ecosystem balance.
