Itzamna ruun-Heeren

Overview

Itzamna ruun-Heeren was Basileus of Asgartha during Republic period, reigning from 301-305 AC. Perished in 305 AC tsunami that devastated Arkaster, along with much of government and significant portion of urban population. Death occurred despite Aroro Niski’s warnings about impending cataclysm, which went unheeded during final hours before disaster.

305 AC Tsunami

Failed Warning

Aroro Niski, Yzmir mage who detected disturbance in The Aether flows heralding tsunami, sought audience with Itzamna at The Asterion. Aroro waited long hours in Palace halls hoping for meeting that never came. Tried to persuade The Aegis sentinels to let her through, but audience never granted. Said she turned back with face stricken with dread—perhaps glimpsed horizon through Palace windows, realized time running out.

Death in Deluge

Itzamna perished when tsunami struck Arkaster, devastating lakefront Districts and much of The Asterion palace. Died along with much of government, requiring hasty election of Ndidi Dewitt as successor Basilissa. Though Aroro Niski’s sacrifice drastically reduced human toll and extent of destruction, could not prevent deaths at highest levels of Asgarthan government.
