Sarkans Desert

Overview

The Sarkans Desert is an immense desert of red sand that covers much of the Province of Caer Arcolano. It stretches from the Kandu mountain chain in the north to the southern tip of the Province.

Geography

Some areas of the desert are rugged, traversed by deep canyons of carmine rock. Clusters of Kolamusa—living masses resembling a cross between lichen and baobab that could be mistaken for rock—can be found throughout the desert.

Access to Hypogea

The hollow trunks of Kolamusa organisms provide access to wells that descend into the ground, leading to the Hypogea—a titanic underground cavity held in place by root networks. In this separate underground world, rivers of milky white waters irrigate the soil and the roots produce their own bioluminescence.

  • Hypogea: Underground cavity accessible through Kolamusa organisms
  • Kolamusa: Living organisms found in the desert providing underground access
  • Kandu: Mountain chain forming northern boundary
  • Kiragata Wetlands: Wet region to the north beyond Kandu
