Historians’ Guild
The Historians’ Guild is an academic organization dedicated to historical research and archaeological investigations. The Guild participates in expeditions to excavate and study pre-Confluence sites discovered during the Rediscovery Endeavor.
Purpose and Activities
The Historians’ Guild conducts scholarly research into Asgartha’s historical past, particularly focusing on pre-Confluence civilizations and settlements. Guild scholars possess expertise in:
- Archaeological excavation techniques
- Historical analysis and interpretation
- Pre-Confluence urban development
- Ancient Asgarthan culture and practices
392 AC - Calida Expedition
November 392 AC - Strand Region Deployment
In November 392 AC, scholars from the Historians’ Guild participated in an expedition to Calida in the Strand Region of Caer Oorun. The expedition was led jointly by Guild scholars and prospectors from the Axiom faction.
Approximately forty explorers participated in the mission, with the Guild scholars providing historical expertise and research methodology. The expedition was established based on information Waru Toowoom gathered at The Sanctum regarding the existence of a hot spring station called Calida.
Mission Objectives
The Historians’ Guild scholars worked toward multiple objectives at Calida:
- Unearthing potential ruins of the ancient hot spring station
- Investigating pre-Confluence settlement patterns
- Researching daily life and ritual practices in ancient baths
- Setting up an advanced base for exploring coastal regions of the Cierna
- Documenting architectural and cultural findings
Research Questions
Guild scholars engaged with specific historical questions during the Calida expedition. Leocardius Sree and Waru Toowoom had lengthy discussions about daily life in the baths, debating whether bathing was a daily ritual or reserved for liturgical occasions.
Collaboration with Other Organizations
The Historians’ Guild works in collaboration with other organizations during Rediscovery Endeavor expeditions:
The Sanctum: Provides historical references and archival materials for Guild research
Axiom: Provides prospectors and technical expertise for joint expeditions
This collaborative approach combines historical scholarship with practical exploration capabilities, enabling more effective investigation of archaeological sites.
Strategic Role
The Historians’ Guild serves a crucial role in the Rediscovery Endeavor by:
- Providing scholarly context for discovered sites
- Conducting systematic archaeological research
- Preserving and documenting pre-Confluence heritage
- Supporting understanding of ancient Asgarthan civilization
- Contributing to knowledge base for territorial reclamation
