New Exchequer
Overview
The New Exchequer, also called the “New Nobility,” consists of around forty families that form part of Asgartha’s aristocratic class. They are opposed to the Old Nobility, which consists of nine patrician dynasties.
Composition
Among the New Exchequer are venerable names such as:
Location
Unlike the nine major Houses of the Old Nobility, which are established in the Tesh Kanat district, the minor Houses have settled on its opposite side, on the slopes of Kuth Kanat.
Ancestry and Prestige
Despite this superficial separation, the New Nobility has no reason to feel inferior in terms of ancestry. Recently, these families have seen their prestige grow significantly.
Strategic Investment
By investing in the Axiom, the minor Houses made a shrewd move. Today, the influence and wealth of the New Exchequer rival that of the Old Nobility.
Current Status (392 AC)
Both the Old and New Nobility are preparing for the resignation of Basileus Avkan ruun-Heshkari. Whether to actively participate in the exploration missions or to stay in Asgartha to consolidate their power, all strategies are currently under consideration.
However, there is little true animosity between the noble Houses. In fact, they have affectionately nicknamed their diplomatic conflict the “Fair Game.”
