Sewati

Sewati is Kadigiran Mage-Dancer who demonstrates advanced Sign-based Alteration techniques through elaborate choreographed katas.

Role as Mage-Dancer

Mage-Dancers earn their name from elaborate choreographies they perform while casting. However, they function more like fishermen than dancers - each Sign they create becomes lure for ideas existing on other side of Veil, magnet drawing them to precise location.

Mage-Dancers create small incisions allowing ideas to cross barrier between worlds, bringing them to life in present reality from Empyrean.

Technique and Method

366 AC - Kata Demonstration for Afanas

Sewati performed first kata with calm face and eyes focused with intense concentration. He started series of movements tracing Sign after Sign in front of him.

His gestures quivered with Mana. Each gesture was way to imbue Signs with tangible character, flooding them with meaning and power.

Three-Sign Water Spell

First Sign - Water: Suddenly, idea of water surged into world from Empyrean. Like all ideas from imaginary world, this water was pure - crystal clear, refined by all minds thinking of it in that moment, devoid of any impurity.

Second Sign - Whirlpool: Another Sign traced summoned more ideas including whirlpool. Fed by Aether, water started to swirl all around him like frantic and imperious spinning top.

Third Sign - Glass: Final step to finalize spell. Third Sign he traced was Sign of glass. Ideas clumped together, ultimately crossing threshold in turn.

Suddenly, water spout solidified into glass spiral with delicate and sharp patterns.

Completion

Satisfied with result, Afanas simply nodded approval. After completing exercise, Sewati relaxed. He exhaled deeply to chase away all parasitic ideas that crossed Veil during casting process.

Fishing Metaphor

Called Mage-Dancers because of elaborate choreographies, but actually more like fishermen in function. Each Sign becomes lure for ideas from other side of Veil. They need only create small incision to allow ideas to cross barrier between worlds, bringing them to life in here and now.
