Tech Lab Unit

Tech Lab Units are mobile laboratory structures deployed by the Axiom at The Screed for research operations related to the City of Scholars excavation.

Design

From the exterior, the units resemble worksite machinery rather than university buildings, featuring huge wheels, generators, antennas, and thick cables and conduits that extend into the city’s depths to pump Sap. The prefabricated structures prioritize practicality over aesthetics.

Interior

Despite their utilitarian appearance, the interiors maintain the familiar ambiance of traditional laboratories, equipped with measuring and research instruments. The constant whirring and buzzing of machines provides a comforting atmosphere for researchers with scientific backgrounds.

Deployment

By 393 AC, the Axiom had constructed at least six Tech Lab Units at The Screed. Treyst operates one unit for his prosthetics research, while another falls under Basem Falani’s authority.

Operations

Researchers use the units around the clock. While most set their schedules to match the outside floodlights that brighten for daytime and dim for off-peak hours, some researchers like Treyst maintain nocturnal habits, working through the night.

The units receive deliveries of research materials including Sap samples from the depths and Aerolith specimens brought by prospectors.
