Pelagonian Quadrant

Overview

The Pelagonian Quadrant is one of six regions within the Cloud Realm, naturally rich in Aerolith—a motherlode of antigravitational ore. The quadrant serves as the primary mining zone for the Expeditionary Corps, though operations carry significant risk due to the material’s instability.

Geography

Unlike the calm Illyrian Quadrant, the Pelagonian airspace exists in constant turmoil. Floating clusters continuously collide and drift, creating a hazardous environment. When two Aerolith veins rub together or crash, exothermic reactions can trigger chain explosions.

Mining Operations

Axiom has established extensive mining infrastructure throughout the quadrant:

  • Drilling platforms for ore extraction
  • Refining plants for processing raw Aerolith
  • Transit depots for crystal storage
  • Mobile Tech Labs for research operations
  • Evacuation pods and airbases

The Prospectors’ Guild coordinates extraction efforts, recognizing the unprecedented opportunity presented by the quadrant’s deposits—far exceeding anything found in Asgartha. Bravos personnel maintain bases in the quadrant and provide security escorts for mining teams.

All operations maintain constant alert status due to the volatile nature of the work.

Ancient Civilization Evidence

Axiom researchers have discovered remnants of ancient mining stations within the Pelagonian Quadrant. The technology found at these sites bears similarity to discoveries made in Storhvit and the City of Scholars, suggesting a sophisticated pre-Tumult civilization once operated mining facilities in this region.

393 AC - Floating Island Expedition

A scholarly expedition organized by Leocardius Sree traveled to a small floating island in the Pelagonian Quadrant aboard an Axiom-provided mechanical vessel. The island contained ruins sharing architectural style with the City of Scholars, including a large white building with golden geometric lines and walls set with intricate patterns.

Within a structure resembling a place of worship or remembrance, Ordis linguist Yanna and the college of linguists translated four fresco panels documenting the City of Scholars inhabitants’ escape to the sky. The scripts bordering the murals share common roots with those of the Tribe of the Setting Sun. The expedition included historians, architects, ethnologists, sociologists, and linguists, as well as Lyra Exalt Nadir and his Chimera Bubbles.

Timeline

393 AC, October 23 - Halua Attack

Halua attacked the Axiom quarry in the Pelagonian Quadrant, destroying mining facilities, the mobile Tech Lab, Axiom and Bravos bases, AES Sune, and two reconnaissance airships. The attack caused heavy human casualties. Paju, piloting a white-shelled mech, sacrificed himself to save Isaree Thongsuk from a collapsing crane.
