Mugen

Overview

The Mugen is a sacred wooden bridge linking Nisan and Kirighai, providing the only land access to the Katkera forest and the Muna Refuges. It is regarded as a gateway to the pristine sanctuary of the Muna.

Structure

The bridge consists of nineteen arched wooden sections hopping between numerous islets of various sizes. On each island stands a torii gate at the foot of which resides an altar dedicated to a specific Eidolon.

Sacred Significance

The Mugen is regarded as a sacred place. Every visitor is expected to make a stop at each torii to honor the spirits of Kirighai, with each step corresponding to a moment of reflection and communion. This makes crossing the bridge a form of pilgrimage rather than mere transit.

Origin

The bridge was created by Yong-Su Tenzing, a Muna Alterer. Yong-Su built the Mugen with the aim of supplying Arkaster when a Tumult singularity prevented the capital from being replenished with food and essential resources. What began as a practical solution became one of the most sacred sites in Asgartha.
