Rhodopian Quadrant

Overview

The Rhodopian Quadrant is one of six regions within the Cloud Realm, characterized by wooden islands with tropical vegetation. The quadrant’s primary activities are ornithology and phytobiology research.

Geography

Unlike the rocky Illyrian Quadrant, the Rhodopian Quadrant consists of islands made entirely of wood, thought to be supported by Aerolith cores though containing little ore due to wood being lighter than stone. The formations resemble massive driftwood sculptures.

Over time, weathering has hollowed out the bases of these islands into complex wooden labyrinths. The upper layers are covered in lush, invasive tropical vegetation.

Interconnected Islets

Some plant species in the quadrant grow long, prehensile vines that latch onto neighboring islets to spread. This has caused many islands to cluster together in tangled webs of roots and vegetal tethers, creating interconnected archipelagos of wooden structures.

Wildlife

The Rhodopian Quadrant hosts significant bird nesting colonies, making it ecologically valuable for ornithological study.

Conservation Status

Muna representatives have petitioned for the Rhodopian Quadrant to be declared a nature preserve, primarily to protect the bird colonies. In exchange for this designation, the expedition’s high command requested that Muna researchers study the strange and unknown plant species growing in the quadrant to determine if any might prove useful to the Expeditionary Corps.
