Expeditionary Corps

Overview

The Expeditionary Corps is a multi-faction military and exploration force comprising thousands of personnel, formed as part of the Rediscovery Endeavor. Following in the wake of Exalts who serve as scouts and vanguard, the Corps is tasked with reclaiming and securing territories liberated from The Tumult.

Formation

The Corps was formed over twenty years of preparation by all six factions:

  • Bravos and Ordis trained a new generation of heroes and explorers
  • Axiom engineers developed machines to facilitate expeditions
  • Yzmir mages prepared to study unknown phenomena
  • Lyra and Muna ensured the expedition could operate autonomously far from Asgartha

Faction Contributions

All six factions contribute forces and expertise:

  • Ordis: Architects, historians, cataloging, Mesektet recovery operations
  • Bravos: Military forces, reclamation operations
  • Axiom: Engineers, prospectors, hull modifications, probe deployment
  • Muna: Quartermasters, provisions
  • Yzmir: Initiates, magical monitoring, quarantine operations
  • Lyra: The Ouroboros mobile base, support services

Operations

Operational Method

Exalts—pairs of Alterers bonded with Chimerae through The Musubi—serve as scouts and vanguard. They stabilize regions affected by The Tumult, after which Expeditionary Corps contingents deploy to secure and reclaim the liberated territories. When Tumult currents are sufficiently calm, The Ouroboros deploys contingents of explorers to assist the Exalts, who shield troops from mutagenic effects.

Transport Assets

Two colossal carrier transporters were requisitioned from Verbera and Sojourn in 391 AC to escort The Ouroboros and house hundreds of Corps personnel.

Air Support

The Mesektet airship serves as aerial transport and rendezvous platform for Corps units operating in difficult terrain.

Timeline

392 AC - Caer Oorun Operations

The Corps successfully reclaimed Cebir fortress in Caer Oorun province. Subsequent operations established expeditions at Calida hot springs and conducted archaeological assessments at Irundu ruins. Recovery operations at the crashed Mesektet site involved Ordis and Axiom coordination.

393 AC, January - Storvhit Deployment

The Corps vanguard deployed to Storvhit, a harsh winter region beyond Caer Oorun. Progress was grueling due to snow, frost, and limited visibility. Troops diversified Eidolon summoning to include cold-adapted entities like Jack Frost, Snow Queen, and Skaði.

393 AC, May - City of Scholars Operations

The Corps reached the estimated location of the City of Scholars after a four-month journey across Caer Nilam, approximately 250 miles from Caer Oorun borders. Admiral Temera Singh ordered a delay on underground exploration to allow troops rest. Axiom operators deployed drones and probes to survey the buried megastructures.

393 AC - The Screed Outpost

The Corps established The Screed as a surface outpost above the City of Scholars, with facilities including Nilam Spires observatory and research station.

Embedded Press

The Arkaster Echo newspaper deploys special correspondents to the Expeditionary Corps, including Vera Valesquia who documents the Rediscovery Endeavor for civilian audiences in Asgartha.
