Expeditionary Corps
Overview
The Expeditionary Corps is a multi-faction military and exploration force comprising thousands of personnel, formed as part of the Rediscovery Endeavor. Following in the wake of Exalts who serve as scouts and vanguard, the Corps is tasked with reclaiming and securing territories liberated from The Tumult.
Formation
The Corps was formed over twenty years of preparation by all six factions. Bravos and Ordis trained a new generation of heroes and explorers, Axiom engineers developed machines to facilitate expeditions, Yzmir mages prepared to study unknown phenomena, and Lyra and Muna ensured the expedition could operate autonomously far from Asgartha.
Command Structure
- Temera Singh: Grand Admiral commanding the Expeditionary Corps
- The Ouroboros: Mobile outpost and flagship, converted from Kasirga Clan Sahanka
- Council of Factions: Deliberative body for major deployment decisions
Operational Method
Exalts—pairs of Alterers bonded with Chimerae through The Musubi—serve as scouts and vanguard, stabilizing regions affected by The Tumult. Expeditionary Corps contingents then deploy to secure and reclaim the liberated territories. When Tumult currents are sufficiently calm, The Ouroboros deploys contingents to assist the Exalts, who shield troops from mutagenic effects.
Fleet Assets
- The Ouroboros: Mobile headquarters and flagship
- The Wayfarer: Lyra Sahanka providing support
- Mesektet and Mandjet: Ordis flagship vessels providing escort
- Carrier Transporters: Two colossal vessels requisitioned from Verbera and Sojourn in 391 AC
- AES Flotilla: Military and civilian vessels including escort ships, cruisers, destroyers, and support craft
Timeline
392 AC - Caer Oorun Operations
The Corps successfully reclaimed Cebir fortress in Caer Oorun province. Subsequent operations established expeditions at Calida hot springs and conducted archaeological assessments at Irundu ruins.
393 AC, January - Storhvit Deployment
The Corps vanguard deployed to Storhvit, a harsh winter region beyond Caer Oorun centered on Cais Adarra mountain. Progress was grueling due to snow, frost, and limited visibility. The Corps identified six distinct biomes: Tundra, Taiga, Frozen Lake, Canyon, Caverns, and Spur.
393 AC, March - Cais Adarra Ascent
The Corps established a base camp on the foothills of Cais Adarra after traversing Belisenki territory. Admiral Singh personally joined the ground forces for the ascent despite staff disapproval.
393 AC, May - City of Scholars Operations
After a four-month journey across Caer Nilam, the Corps reached the City of Scholars, approximately 250 miles from Caer Oorun borders. Admiral Singh ordered rest for troops before underground exploration. The Screed was established as a surface outpost.
393 AC, October - Cloud Realm Transit
The Corps traversed the Cloud Realm, a region of floating islands. The convoy of eighteen ships navigated between Tumult currents, with reports of a massive shadow following beneath the cloud surface.
