When Vong proposed dividing forces into four cardinal contingents, Nimeda opposed the plan, arguing the Kraken was not running but waiting patiently for a mistake—and dividing troops was exactly the misstep it awaited. She speculated that if the creature was anything like a giant squid, it might be able to camouflage, explaining why Wingspan’s aerial reconnaissance had failed to locate it.
