Kelon Elemental

Kelon Elementals are axolotl-like creatures used by Axiom miners to detect Kelon deposits underground. They are irresistibly drawn to Kelon ore and serve as living prospecting tools in the mines of Suspira.

Appearance

Kelon Elementals have smooth pink backs with crystalline scales jutting out. They possess chubby legs that waddle awkwardly when moving, and bulging eyes that can only see a few inches ahead. Like axolotls, they have external gills in the form of antennae on either side of their heads. Their skin appears almost phosphorescent in the darkness of mines.

Abilities

Kelon Detection

Kelon Elementals are irresistibly drawn to Kelon like moths to flame. They use their gill-like antennae to guide themselves toward Kelon deposits, not relying on their limited eyesight. When they locate a vein, they stop and scratch at the ground to signal the find.

Behavior

The creatures are kept in cages and released when prospecting. They scurry quickly through mine tunnels, turning left and right without stopping as they follow the scent of Kelon. Once they find a deposit, miners reward them with small Kelon nuggets as treats.

Usage in Mining

Miners transport Kelon Elementals in cages to underground work sites. Upon release, the creatures immediately begin searching for energizing ore. Subhash Kadis compared their stomach-driven behavior to his Chimera Marmo, noting both creatures think with their stomachs.
