The Concord

Overview

The Concord is the founding treaty of Asgartha, proclaimed by Rune in Year 1 AC, through which all the Tumult Nomad tribes agreed to bind themselves into a single unified people.

Historical Context

After long and perilous journeys across the transformed world, survivor communities from all corners of the globe—Africa, Europe, Asia, and beyond—converged on the same peninsula in response to mystical visions of a Firebird. Resource scarcity, harsh conditions, and the relentless Tumult threatened to tear apart this fragile gathering, and civil war loomed as various tribal leaders prepared to seize power by force.

Proclamation

When the Phoenix crowned Rune at Kuningasplatz, his first act as Kuningas was to decree the Concord. Using the metaphor of rivers converging into one stream, the treaty bound all tribes into a single people. Like separate waterways joining together, the diverse communities mingled to become one nation.

Key Principles

The Concord established a non-aggression pact between tribes, committed all communities to cooperation for the common good against The Tumult, ensured inclusive governance representing all communities, and recognized a shared destiny for humanity’s survival.

Legacy

The treaty became so central to Asgarthan identity that the calendar system was named in its honor: AC stands for “Anno Concordiae” (Year of the Concord). During the Severance War, the central authority viewed allowing secession as violating the very concept of Concord. The Covenant between the six Factions echoes the principles of the original Concord.
