Phoenix
Overview
The Phoenix, also known as the Firebird, is a mythical creature associated with Asgartha and the Bravos Faction. The Phoenix appeared at the founding of the nation and crowned Rune as the first Kuningas.
The Concord (1 AC)
During the events leading to The Concord, the Phoenix plunged from the heights of The Acus, spreading its flaming wings above the assembled forces. The Firebird perched on Rune’s shoulder, crowning him with a circle of fire that left an indelible mark on his brow. This sign led all present—Heshkari first, then all others including the opposing Barons—to bend the knee. Rune was thus crowned the first Kuningas of Asgartha.
The Vanishing (42 AC)
Following Rune’s disappearance in 42 AC, the Phoenix Egg refused to hatch again.
Current Status
350 years after Rune’s disappearance, the Phoenix Egg continues to be incubated within a large brazier in the Phoenix Chamber beneath Haven. The Tiny Jinn maintain the flames through the pressure of their small palms.
The Prophecy
A persistent legend within the Bravos Faction holds that the Firebird will only reappear when Rune’s true heir is found. Many Bravos have volunteered to participate in the Rediscovery Endeavor, hoping to find traces of the first sovereign of Asgartha and his tomb.
Rune’s Testament
According to revelations at the City of Scholars, members of the Tisdhera Clan aboard The Wayfarer secretly carried the Phoenix Egg with them. The stated purpose is that the Firebird must be rekindled and reborn.
