The Seven Blades
Overview
The Seven Blades are legendary mythical swordsmen from The Lost Tribe. According to legends of the first Nomads, these illustrious sword fighters protected the rear guard during The Great Wandering, covering the advance of the seven other tribes toward the place that would become Asgartha.
Historical Role
Before the founding of Asgartha, The Lost Tribe remained behind while the other seven tribes advanced. The Seven Blades served as protectors, ensuring the safe passage of the migrating tribes through The Tumult. Their sacrifice allowed the seven tribes to reach the Peninsula and establish the First City.
Connection to The Drifter
According to memories preserved in the City of Scholars, The Seven Blades accompanied a mysterious figure known as The Drifter who visited the city in ancient times. The Drifter asked at least one of the Seven Blades, Fiore dei Liberi, to remain behind as a sacrifice—imprisoned in the city’s memory library for centuries until a worthy challenger would come.
Known Members
Three of the Seven Blades have been identified by Atsadi through research:
- Fiore dei Liberi - Italian fencing master, defeated by Atsadi in 393 AC
- Julie d’Aubigny - French opera singer and duelist (also known as Mademoiselle Maupin)
- Joseph Bologne - Chevalier de Saint-Georges, French composer and champion fencer
Four members remain unidentified, their names lost to history.
Timeline
392 AC - Atsadi’s Research
Atsadi had discovered the names of three of the Seven Blades: Fiore dei Liberi, Julie d’Aubigny, and Joseph Bologne. These names became a mantra in his mind during training sessions as he worked to learn enough about each to materialize them as Eidolons through Alteration.
393 AC - Fiore dei Liberi Defeated
Atsadi located Fiore dei Liberi imprisoned in the City of Scholars memory library and defeated him in a duel. After his victory, Fiore confirmed Julie d’Aubigny and Joseph Bologne as Atsadi’s next targets among the Seven Blades.
