Galisgi

Overview

The Galisgi is a sword fighting style characterized as being fast and sharp as lightning, specifically designed to compensate for the handicap of fighting with only one arm. The style was developed by Atsadi, the One-Armed Swordsman of Dusk.

Origins

The Galisgi emerged from necessity after Atsadi lost his right arm while trying to save Aurora from a Tumult singularity. After receiving initial training from Bedivere, an Eidolon who also lost an arm, Atsadi traveled the world seeking tutelage from numerous swordsmen and blacksmiths. Throughout this journey, he refined techniques to compensate for his physical limitation, eventually codifying them into the Galisgi style.

Characteristics

The Galisgi emphasizes speed, precision, and instinct. Practitioners maintain peaceful, continuous breathing even during intense combat while waiting alert for the slightest opening. The style relies on instinct dictating movements and anticipating strikes rather than conscious thought.

Combat techniques include darting and twirling movements, positioning the blade to protect advance, lunging with feints, bringing the sword down in vicious arcs, and shoulder-bumping opponents to disrupt balance. The sword produces singing and whistling sounds like wind during execution.

Effectiveness

The Galisgi has proven effective against legendary warriors manifested as Eidolons. Notable victories achieved using this style include defeats of Tomoe Gozen, Achilles, and Sun Wukong, disarming Hua Mulan, and pushing Gericht vaan-Bracht to his knees.

Connection to The Seven Blades

Mastery of the Galisgi is connected to the quest to identify and defeat The Seven Blades, mythical swordsmen of the Lost Tribe. Proving worthiness against these legendary opponents through the Galisgi is considered necessary to earn the right to wield Excalibur.
