Gericht vaan-Bracht

Overview

Gericht vaan-Bracht (55–86 AC) was a swordsman known as the Five Blades Swordsman and the last remnant of the Ugetsu Fenshen school. Orphaned at age five, he trained at the monastery until its destruction by The Magan in 74 AC. He joined the rebellion against Ayxas and died from wounds sustained during the assault on Elysium in 86 AC. He later manifested as an Eidolon.

Background

Gericht’s parents perished in a Tumult singularity in 60 AC. At age five, he was placed in the care of Ugetsu Fenshen, a secluded monastery on the edge of Vindmark in Caer Eidos. He was entrusted to swordsman Suddran and lived a monastic life of labor and training. He formed bonds with fellow orphans, including Nadra, who played the lute. After four years, Suddran declared him ready to become a disciple, and training shifted to blade techniques and dueling.

Timeline

74 AC - Ugetsu-Fenshen Massacre

Envoys of Ayxas arrived bearing a royal decree outlawing the monastery. Grandmaster Walela refused to comply. The following dawn, The Magan attacked. Suddran fell, speared from all sides. Nadra retreated wounded but was struck by enemy archers alongside Gericht. Nadra died. Gericht was left for dead amid the ruins.

Eidolon Gunn found Gericht clinging to life and tended his wounds for days. She offered him a pact to join the rebellion against Ayxas. He accepted, mourned at the monks’ graves, and took Nadra’s lute, which had survived the fire.

74–86 AC - Rebellion

Within the rebellion, Gericht led raids against Ayxas’s forces, targeting The Magan disciples. His reputation grew as the Five Blades Swordsman, last remnant of Ugetsu Fenshen. He was known for his imposing frame, speed, kohl-lined eyes, and skill with multiple blades.

86 AC - Death at Elysium

During the final assault on Elysium, Gericht fought at the vanguard. He attempted to save Eskheret ruun-Kurush after she breached the fortress gates, but she succumbed to wounds. Gericht stormed the throne room and reached Ayxas slumped at the foot of the dais. He laid down his weapons and withdrew to a corner, where he died from his wounds before others found him.

Post-Death - Eidolon Manifestation

Years after death, Gericht’s Eidolon began appearing at fencing schools to test champions. He draws circles with his weapons while moving at exceptional speed, using unexpected combinations. He evaluates opponents in slow back-and-forth motion before attacking.

393 AC - Duel with Atsadi

Atsadi summoned Gericht’s Eidolon to test his Galisgi fighting style. The prolonged bout ended with Atsadi pushing Gericht to his knees, demonstrating his martial superiority.
