Grafts
Grafts are artifacts created by the Axiom that obey the will of their holder by the sheer force of thought. They represent an advanced form of prosthetic and enhancement technology.
Creation Method
By infusing an object with an idea of oneself, it is possible to link one’s mind to it so that the object becomes a part of the bearer’s identity. It is through this method that members of the Axiom have created Grafts.
Types and Forms
Grafts can serve various purposes:
- Additional limbs
- Prosthetics (replacement limbs)
- Other enhancements
A wide variety of models have been developed, each with a range of utilities.
Construction
Grafts are equipped with:
- Pistons
- Cogwheels
- Mechanical joints
These Grafts strap onto the body and are easily controlled once one becomes accustomed to their presence, as if they were another part of the body.
Operation
The key feature of Grafts is their mind-link. Once attached and attuned to the user, they respond directly to thought, becoming an extension of the user’s will and body.
Current Status and Goals
These artifacts are becoming increasingly widespread in Asgartha, and the Axiom hope to expand these devices to the rest of the Known World as it is rediscovered through Rediscovery Endeavor.
Memory Grafts
In 393 AC, healers from The Cloister working with Rati surgeons developed a non-mechanical application: memory grafts. These psychic fragments, donated by loved ones, are grafted onto the minds of patients suffering from Oblivion—an affliction that causes progressive memory loss. The artificial memories serve as patches for broken minds, allowing patients to function despite inconsistencies in their reconstructed recollections.
Significance
Grafts represent the Axiom’s commitment to improving human lives through practical technology, offering solutions for those who have lost limbs or who wish to enhance their physical capabilities.
