Mist is the Sahanka of the Ossonoya Clan, one of the nine Lyra Sarabands.

Description

Mist is described as a huge metal citadel that rolls across the plains, emitting vapors. The Sahanka is perpetually surrounded by fog and mist, creating an atmospheric environment that defines the structure’s character.

Architectural Features

The structure features:

• Mighty chimneys that emit vapors
• Metal platforms at various heights
• Dizzying ladders for vertical movement
• Protective railings along platforms
• Maintenance platforms (though they don’t always receive proper repairs)
• Smokestacks that reach high into the sky
• Terraces where one might land if they fall
• Long stairs connecting different levels

Movement

Mist leaves deep caterpillar tracks in the ground as the metal colossus continues its journey across the landscape. The structure rolls rather than flying, moving with the Lyra caravan as they roam.

Atmospheric Phenomena

Colorful masses swirl in the clouds around Mist, likely attracted by the vapors and height of the smokestacks. Blotch, the paint dragon Chimera, was seen swirling around these smokestacks before meeting Nevenka.

The Ossonoya Clan

Mist serves as home to the Ossonoya Clan, which Esmeralda describes as being “fond of secrets.” The Clan maintains the typical Lyra nomadic lifestyle, with life in the open air, constant wandering, and the presence of bards and artists.

Notable Events

Nevenka’s Fall

While wandering beneath the mighty chimneys of Mist, Nevenka saw Blotch swirling in the clouds. To get closer to the entity, she climbed dizzying ladders and stepped over protective railings. A maintenance platform that had not been properly repaired gave way beneath her feet, and she plummeted into the void. Blotch saved her by using his oily texture to slow her fall and place her on a terrace below.

Nevenka’s Departure

After this incident and her subsequent pursuit of Blotch, Nevenka leaped from the base of the Sahanka and began following the dragon, leaving Mist behind. She watched the metal colossus continue its journey, leaving deep caterpillar tracks in the ground.

Cultural Character

As part of the Ossonoya Clan’s identity, Mist embodies the secretive nature of the Clan. The fog and mist that perpetually surround the structure create an atmosphere of mystery, fitting for a Clan described as “fond of secrets.”
