The Fagn

Overview

The Fagn is a cursed zone within the Kiragata Wetlands that was created at the end of the 3rd century AC during The Three Factions War. It is the site where the Black Leviathan was defeated, and remains permanently tainted by the accumulated darkness of war.

Creation

During The Three Factions War, a Black Leviathan of pure malice and hatred grew in the Kiragata Wetlands, fed by the war’s atrocities—death, terror, vengeance, and cruelty. Champions from all four Factions journeyed to the Leviathan’s gestation site, plunging into marshes that had become putrid under its influence.

They found the Leviathan, still in its nymph state, having just emerged from its chrysalis. Joining forces with the surviving Muna, the champions battled the creature, and in a last-ditch effort, managed to defeat it, saving Asgartha in the process.

The Curse

Unfortunately, despite this victory, all the accumulated darkness had tainted the place with a malevolent aura. Though peace was restored, the area remained cursed.

Current Status

All the Muna present swore to watch over this place, to prevent its evil from spreading, and to cleanse it of its curse. Even today, The Fagn remains an island of darkness, ever ready, at the slightest opportunity, to consume everything surrounding it.

Expansion

The murky bog seems to expand year after year, like an unhealthy tumor spreading through the Kiragata Wetlands. It is said to harbor strange and terrifying things. This is the center of the territory where humans never venture. Muna and Yzmir have settled on the edge of the Fagn to try to freeze its borders and contain its growth.
