Chiara Caceres

Overview

Chiara Caceres was a young Lyra skald who ended The Three Factions War at the end of the 3rd century AC. Vested with the authority of The Nine Matriarchs, she led the March of the Sahankas and performed the Song of One, preventing the destruction of Asgartha.

The Three Factions War

March of the Sahankas

As the Yzmir, Ordis, and Bravos prepared for a final battle that would determine Asgartha’s future, a fourth force appeared. The nine Lyra City-States advanced through the mists of Muir Concordia, crossing the drained lagoon from the Anthea peninsula. This event, the March of the Sahankas, was the one and only time all Lyra Clans stood united.

Chiara led them, vested with the authority of The Nine Matriarchs. She was their voice, and they all spoke through her.

Song of One

Under Chiara’s guidance, all the Lyra sang the Song of One. Through this collective melody, they enraptured the combatants, mesmerizing everyone present. Hostility, resentment, and rage were swept from minds and banished from the battlefield. All soldiers lowered their weapons, bewildered and dazed.

Negotiation and Revelation

When the Song’s last notes faded, Chiara approached the leaders of the three Factions and spoke with them for many hours. She revealed that in the Kiragata Wetlands, a creature was emerging—the Black Leviathan—born of bitterness and resentment, fed by the war’s atrocities. The Muna had discovered its cocoon and asked Chiara to seek support against the abomination.

Chiara had traveled to every Clan, pleading her case to each Matriarch, and against all odds succeeded in rallying them. She begged the Faction leaders to end the conflict and unite against the Black Leviathan instead of feeding it with their hatred.

Resolution

Persuaded by her eloquence, the Faction leaders agreed to a truce. Champions from all four Factions journeyed to the Black Leviathan’s gestation site and, joining forces with surviving Muna, defeated the creature in its nymph state. Though the area remained cursed as The Fagn, peace was restored to Asgartha.
