Nauraa

Nauraa is a giant fox Chimera who serves as the Alter Ego to Teija through their Musubi bond. He is part of the Muna Faction and will accompany Teija on the Rediscovery Endeavor to the Terra Incognita.

Physical Appearance

Nauraa is a giant fox with orange or carrot-colored fur. He is much larger than a normal fox, large enough that Teija can ride on his back as a mount. His eyes shine with a golden gleam and are described as gigantic. He has thick red hairs that prove difficult for even sharp claws to pierce through.

When affected by the “gigantism” concept during an encounter in the Kiragata Marshes, Nauraa grew to be as tall as a village steeple, with a snout large enough that someone could lie down and take a nap on it.

Musubi Bond and Communication

The Musubi ceremony synchronized Nauraa and Teija’s senses, allowing them to feel each other’s presence and communicate through thoughts. Nauraa’s voice can thunder in Teija’s head, and he can sense when something troubles Teija without vocalization. Through their bond, Nauraa can receive grafted ideas from Teija—during an encounter with a corrupted Chimera in the Kiragata Marshes, Teija grafted “impulse” onto Nauraa for enhanced speed, and later “gigantism” accidentally landed on him, causing him to grow to enormous proportions.

Nauraa emits wails and whimpers to communicate vocally. When threatened, his fur bristles and he bares sharp teeth while crouching. His tail wags when he sees Teija.

Combat Role

Nauraa works alongside Teija to combat creatures corrupted by The Fagn in the Kiragata Marshes. He detects danger with his sense of smell and provides warnings to Teija. In combat, he crouches and growls to intimidate opponents while using his physical presence to flank and corner targets. When granted the “impulse” idea, Nauraa lunged with enhanced speed to corner a corrupted Chimera. After growing to enormous size from “gigantism,” he handled the creature gently, laying it on the ground.

Timeline

392 AC - Post-Battle Recovery

After fighting to escape a swamp, Nauraa’s red fur bore scabs of coagulated blood from harsh ordeals. While Teija fished, Nauraa stared hungrily at the water surface, lay stretched out for siesta, then leaped into the pond disrupting the catch when the float sank.

~393 AC - Fleeing Belisenki at Storvhit

Nauraa fled through Storvhit forest while pursued by hordes of Belisenki, aided by Eidolons and Simbi manifested by Teija.

393 AC - Melancholy at The Nilam

While passing The Nilam, Nauraa reacted with prolonged melancholy, staring at the dead world-tree and listening to Mana Moths circling its crystal branches. Nauraa told Teija the moths’ wingbeats cried out their sorrow and described sensing a hollow space where something was missing—like a void where there should have been absence of void. The tree reminded Nauraa of Katkera and the time before bonding with Teija.

393 AC - Descent into The Crow’s Eye

Nauraa’s fur shifted from white winter pelt to deep brown and black after crossing Storvhit, adapting to conditions. At The Screed, Nauraa entered freight elevator cage despite loathing cages, lying down at center of platform without prompting from Teija. During descent into The Crow’s Eye, Nauraa sensed something lurking in the depths and observed The Undergrowth through Teija’s eyes, declaring it their new hunting ground.

393 AC - Protecting Teija During The Hunger Confrontation

Nauraa accompanied Teija into The Maze for the Exalt confrontation with The Hunger. While Teija meditated atop a memory block attempting psychic contact with the entity, Nauraa provided protection. Through their bond, Nauraa warned Teija of danger—his serpentine aspect (referred to as “Maw”) rasping at the edge of consciousness with convulsive, fearful undulations. When The Hunger shifted from feeding to aggression, Nauraa helped shield Teija during the chaos that followed.

Nauraa accompanies Teija as part of the Rediscovery Endeavor to the Terra Incognita.
