Yawo

Yawo is a shopkeeper who owns a small convenience store under the Cornucoopia brand on Ratu Kidul Street in Arkaster. He is the father of Gulrang Oduro and Kojo Oduro, and the husband of Tehea.

Business

Yawo owns a small neighborhood grocery store under the Cornucoopia brand on Ratu Kidul Street in Arkaster. His store serves the local community and is part of a larger commercial network.

When Kojo was young, Yawo asked him to deliver certain groceries to address emergencies or help the elderly who had difficulty moving. This suited Kojo perfectly as it allowed him to explore the sprawling alleys of the capital and meet people.

Family

Yawo is married to Tehea, a skilled woodworker from the Wood Guild. Together they have two children:

Yawo is also friends with Venka, a Bravos veteran who would visit their home for dinner and tell stories of his time in service.

Relationship with His Children

When Gulrang was fourteen and determined to join the Aegis, Yawo and Tehea tried desperately to persuade their daughter to change her mind. They warned her that the life of a soldier would be dangerous and the existence would be hard. Gulrang couldn’t see herself working ebony like her mother or running a neighborhood grocery store like her father.

Facing their daughter’s stubbornness, Yawo and Tehea were at a loss. Gulrang’s determination showed how much perseverance she could muster for something she wanted from the bottom of her heart. Eventually they relented and asked Venka to prepare Gulrang for joining the Aegis.

When both his children enlisted in the Expeditionary Corps, it became hard on Yawo and Tehea. Gulrang reminded Kojo to be careful since their enlistment was already difficult for their parents.

Timeline

393 AC - Sap Candy Theft Incident

A group of children stole nearly ten packs of Sap candies from Yawo’s store by allegedly invoking Tinker Bell to snatch the sweets. Weeks later, Yawo received a letter of apology and 50 florins from the children. He noted the candies were “quite the luxury goods—not easy to import” but confirmed the matter was settled.
