The Age of Rediscovery Proclamation

Overview

On 392 AC, Avkan ruun-Heshkari delivered a proclamation speech announcing the launch of Rediscovery Endeavor and declaring the beginning of the Age of Rediscovery.

Context

Twenty-four years prior to this proclamation, the Basileus had requested an extended mandate to realize an ambitious project of unprecedented scale. This speech marked the culmination of those preparations.

Historical Summary

The Basileus’s speech recounted the entire history of Asgartha:

The Confluence

Five centuries prior (approximately 367 AC), humanity lived in a golden age with ships connecting distant lands and machines powered by steam and gears. The Confluence struck suddenly without warning, tearing open reality and unleashing The Aether from The Empyrean. This planetary devastation altered everything in its path.

Age of Tumult

Following the Confluence, The Tumult was born—destructive currents that relentlessly altered everything. Survivors knew nothing of Alteration initially. They witnessed loved ones transform uncontrollably, parasitized by volatile ideas. The Tumult Nomads emerged, learning to detect the arrival of the Tumult and seek shelter in Oases.

The Great Migrations

The Oneiroi contacted human communities and offered the secrets of Alteration as a weapon against the Tumult. They convinced survivors to unite. Eight major human tribes converged on what would become Asgartha. One tribe chose not to stay, another was lost to the Tumult, and the remaining six settled in the peninsula.

The Concord

Within Asgartha, all tribes bound themselves into a single people under the patronage of the Oneiroi. They proclaimed The Concord—the unbreakable alliance of human survivors. This became the founding pillar of society.

Age of Concord

The Age of Concord was the blossoming of civilization and its enduring establishment, though it saw dark hours and bloody periods.

The Proclamation

The Basileus declared that with Asgartha now stable and secure, it was time to turn outward toward Terra Incognita. All six Factions participated in preparing the endeavor:

  • Bravos and Ordis: Trained heroes and explorers for over twenty years
  • Axiom: Engineers worked on machines to facilitate expeditions
  • Yzmir: Mages prepared to study unknown phenomena
  • Lyra and Muna: Ensured the adventure could evolve autonomously

The Mission

The Expeditionary Corps was formed to venture beyond the Known World, find other Oases, locate other Oneiroi, potentially discover other human survivors, and possibly find the source of the Tumult to end it.

Declaration

The Basileus solemnly proclaimed the launch of the Rediscovery Endeavor and declared the beginning of the Age of Rediscovery.
