Terra Incognita
Overview
Terra Incognita refers to the unknown lands beyond Asgartha’s borders, territories still affected by The Tumult that humanity has not yet explored or reclaimed.
Geography
The Terra Incognita encompasses the vast territories outside the stabilized Asgarthan Peninsula. According to accounts from the Great Wandering, these lands contain wonderful lands, moors of unreal beauty, baroque palaces of improbable architecture, and desolated places gripped by chaos where ice burns and mountains float above rivers of obsidian.
The Great Wandering
During The Great Wandering, the Tumult Nomad tribes roamed the Terra Incognita for one hundred to one hundred and fifty years following The Confluence. They traveled from Oasis to Oasis, from places shielded from the Tumult to makeshift shelters. The legends passed down by these nomads speak of cities, palaces, and enclaves where survivors awaited rescue.
The Rediscovery Endeavor
In 392 AC, Basileus Avkan ruun-Heshkari proclaimed the Rediscovery Endeavor, declaring it was time to turn outward toward the Terra Incognita. The stated mission objectives include discovering other Oases and reinforcing them, finding other Oneiroi allies, locating potential human survivors, and finding the source of The Tumult.
Known Regions
Several regions of the Terra Incognita have been identified through exploration:
- Caer Oorun: The first province reclaimed during the Rediscovery Endeavor
- Storvhit: A winter region perpetually locked in harsh cold, centered on Cais Adarra mountain
- City of Scholars: An ancient settlement referenced in Tumult Nomad records
