Kinta
Overview
Kinta is a Lyra painter of the Tisdhera Clan who resides in The Wayfarer. Together with her husband Ghamam, she adopted Nadir after finding the infant on their doorstep following a Tumult singularity collision with their metropolis.
Family and Home
Kinta and Ghamam maintain a painting studio in their home aboard The Wayfarer. Their house possesses a capricious, temperamental personality—its sliding workshop door jams during plastering or painting work, its stove refuses to function during certain meals, and its bathroom plays hide-and-seek after extended water usage.
Kinta paints landscapes in the studio, which has large bay windows and stores solvents and paints.
Adoption of Nadir
When the Lyra metropolis collided with a Tumult singularity, a naked, silent newborn appeared on the couple’s doorstep. Kinta took him in her arms to warm him, wrapping him in cloth and blanket. The couple raised the child as their son, naming him Nadir.
Explaining the baby’s sudden arrival to neighbors required considerable deception. As Nadir grew and bizarre phenomena followed in his wake, Kinta and Ghamam invented increasingly far-fetched excuses to conceal his unusual nature. The couple swore to keep the secret of Nadir’s true origins.
Response to Nadir’s Behavior
When teachers frequently summoned the couple to discuss Nadir’s solitary behavior and detachment from other children, Kinta maintained this was simply who he was and that he only needed acceptance. She dismissed concerns about his quiet, sketching-focused nature.
When Ghamam considered leaving The Wayfarer so Nadir would not have to endure the clowning characteristic of the Tisdhera Clan, Kinta insisted that moving would be worse.
When Bubbles joined their household, Kinta and Ghamam immediately recognized the carp as a Chimera, though they never learned where Nadir had found the creature.
