Ghamam

Overview

Ghamam is a Lyra painter and sculptor of the Tisdhera Clan who resides in The Wayfarer. Together with his wife Kinta, he adopted Nadir after finding the infant on their doorstep following a Tumult singularity collision with their metropolis.

Family and Home

Ghamam and Kinta maintain a painting studio in their home aboard The Wayfarer. Their house possesses a capricious, temperamental personality—its sliding workshop door jams during plastering or painting work, its stove refuses to function during certain meals, and its bathroom plays hide-and-seek after extended water usage.

The couple’s workshop contains solvents and paints, with large bay windows. Kinta paints landscapes while Ghamam works on his own pieces, including sculpture.

Adoption of Nadir

When the Lyra metropolis collided with a Tumult singularity, a naked, silent newborn appeared on Ghamam and Kinta’s doorstep. Kinta took him in her arms and wrapped him in cloth and blanket. The couple raised the child as their son, naming him Nadir.

Explaining the baby’s sudden arrival to neighbors required considerable deception. As Nadir grew and bizarre phenomena followed in his wake, Ghamam and Kinta invented increasingly far-fetched excuses to conceal his unusual nature. The couple swore to keep the secret of Nadir’s true origins.

Nadir’s Childhood

Nadir avoided other children, showing no interest in their banter, and sat quietly sketching rather than engaging in their stunts and pranks. Teachers frequently summoned Ghamam and Kinta to discuss Nadir’s solitary behavior.

While Kinta maintained this was simply who Nadir was, Ghamam considered leaving The Wayfarer so Nadir would not have to endure the clowning characteristic of the Tisdhera Clan. Kinta insisted moving would be worse.

When Bubbles joined their household, Ghamam and Kinta immediately recognized the carp as a Chimera. The house reacted to Bubbles’s presence with jammed doors and malfunctioning fixtures.

Response to Nadir’s Exalt Designation

When the Tisdhera Clan Matriarch declared that Nadir and Bubbles would become an Exalt and join the Expeditionary Corps vanguard, Ghamam protested. He argued that a child could not be sent to face the Rediscovery Endeavor’s perils. The Matriarch remained firm, stating Nadir’s demiurgic abilities would only grow and must be channeled accordingly.

When The Wayfarer set out toward the unknown, Nadir departed with the expedition.
