Bubbles
Overview
Bubbles is a Chimera that manifests as a large carp, bonded to Nadir as his Alter Ego through The Musubi. Bubbles serves alongside Nadir as an Exalt vanguard in the Expeditionary Corps. Bubbles leaves violet trails when pirouetting in water and produces sparkling droplets when swimming.
Background
The circumstances of Bubbles’s origin remain unknown. Nadir first introduced Bubbles to his parents Ghamam and Kinta as an imaginary friend; they could also perceive the creature. His parents immediately recognized Bubbles as a Chimera, though Nadir never explained where he had found the companion.
Initially, Bubbles appeared daily at the family home in The Wayfarer, slipping inside unannounced to play with Nadir, and eventually came to live with the family permanently. The sentient house reacted to Bubbles’s presence with jammed doors and malfunctioning fixtures, and Bubbles’s tail and fins caused considerable damage including the family’s porcelain collection.
As Nadir trained under Zahira in artistic technique and “mastering imagination,” Bubbles’s traits also became more refined through the process.
Timeline
Pre-393 AC - Life with Nadir’s Family
Bubbles lived with Nadir’s family in The Wayfarer, where Nadir sometimes used his Alteration abilities to transform the living room into a pool of paint so Bubbles could swim.
Pre-393 AC - Tumult Storm Incident
When a Tumult storm struck The Wayfarer while it drifted over the sea at the edge of the Terra Incognita, Bubbles accompanied Nadir when he opened the bunker’s armored hatch, and the Tumult currents engulfed them both without harm.
Pre-393 AC - Exalt Declaration
Following the Tumult incident, the Tisdhera Clan Matriarch declared that Nadir and Bubbles would become an Exalt and receive training to join the Expeditionary Corps vanguard.
393 AC - Floating in the Painthouse at City of Scholars
Bubbles floated under the glass roof of the Painthouse while Nadir painted at the City of Scholars, his fins appearing to caress the sky.
393 AC - Playing with Koi in the Thessalian Quadrant
Bubbles played with Koi, a carp Leviathan, in the Thessalian Quadrant, swimming around the giant creature and producing sparkling droplets while it followed him curiously.
393 AC - Rescuing Three Little Pigs in Thermaic Quadrant
Bubbles pulled Nadir by the fin to rescue the Three Little Pigs Eidolons from gravity currents in the Thermaic Quadrant.
393 AC - Pelagonian Quadrant Expedition
Bubbles and Nadir exhibited perfect osmosis during an expedition to the Pelagonian Quadrant—when one looked in a direction, the other did the same, and each movement completed or mirrored the other.
