Nadra
Overview
Nadra was a musician and apprentice swordsman at Ugetsu-Fenshen monastery. She was friend of Gericht vaan-Bracht and taught him lute during their time at the school. She was killed by enemy archers during The Magan’s attack on the monastery in 74 AC.
Life at Ugetsu-Fenshen (60-74 AC)
Nadra lived at Ugetsu-Fenshen school on edge of Vindmark, eastern frontier of Caer Eidos. In evenings, she played lute while Gericht vaan-Bracht listened, occasionally teaching him her craft. She joined apprentice swordsmen’s ranks one year after Gericht became disciple (65 AC).
Death During Monastery Attack (74 AC)
In 74 AC, Magan contingent attacked Ugetsu-Fenshen after Walela refused Ayxas’s decree outlawing monastery. During battle, Nadra was wounded and retreating. Gericht vaan-Bracht broke ranks attempting to lead her to safety. Enemy archers struck both with arrows. Nadra was killed. Gericht vaan-Bracht was pierced but survived, left for dead.
Legacy
Nadra’s lute miraculously survived flames despite scorch marks on wood. Gericht vaan-Bracht took it from ruins and carried it throughout rebellion. During rare moments between battles, he played lute with tenderness and skill in her memory.
