Caer Eidos

Overview

Caer Eidos is one of the autonomous Provinces (Caers) of the Asgarthan Protectorate, consisting of three islands: Sekent, Kemeri, and Nisan. Due to the presence of Arkaster, the capital, Caer Eidos is considered the nerve center of the Asgarthan Protectorate and the historical heart of Asgarthan civilization.

Geography

Islands

The Province consists of three islands whose junction forms the site of Arkaster. The rugged terrain of these islands served as natural protection for the human communities that settled there after The Great Wandering.

Topography

The isthmus of Caer Eidos is traversed by fjords and narrow canals. Its topography takes the form of a compact cluster of islets and stacks standing like needles, spines, and sharp teeth. The highest point is The Acus, located adjacent to Arkaster, with its summit reaching 1,535 ft (468 m).

Coastline

The coastlines of the isthmus are mostly composed of white, striated mega-cliffs covered with lush grass and home to a myriad of seabirds.

Settlement History

Early Asgarthans decided to exploit the high cliffs to construct numerous troglodyte dwellings. These residences, some of which have become luxurious palaces, continue to be visible in the twin districts of Kuth Kanat and Tesh Kanat.

Modern Significance

Caer Eidos serves as the starting point of a new industrial revolution under the auspices of Axiom. In recent years, the isthmus has been hosting a growing population as the bulk of the contingents dedicated to the Rediscovery Endeavor are stationed there.
