Altrun

Overview

Altrun is a discipline practiced in Asgartha that combines parkour, freerunning, and acrobatics with Alteration magic. Practitioners, known as Altrunners, traverse urban environments by jumping from roof to roof, performing somersaults, sliding on tiles, and using Alteration to create temporary structures as holds, supports, or shortcuts.

Technique

Altrunners use Alteration to create various structures mid-run including stone pylons, wooden gangways, and glass slides. These manifestations serve as holds, supports, or shortcuts to optimize their routes through the city. The discipline requires both physical prowess in acrobatics and skill in Alteration magic.

Urban Practice

In Arkaster, Altrunners can be seen descending from roof to roof with incredible agility, performing somersaults, sliding on scorching tiles, and clinging to gutters. They use chimneys, walls, beams, and other vantage points, knowing the city intimately and frequently changing locations to vary their routes.

Competitions

Altrun features both official and unofficial competitions. Teams within the capital regularly compete against each other, with the ultimate goal of participating in official tournaments held at the Colosseum. Matches involve sprinters racing from starting point to finish line, navigating the urban landscape using their Alteration skills and acrobatic abilities.

The Omnium

The Omnium is the annual championship of Altrun. Teams compete for the cup, and winning brings significant prestige and potential sponsorship opportunities.
