Nilam Spires

Overview

The Nilam Spires is a Yzmir structure at The Screed outpost, constructed from bark fragments transported from the fallen World Tree. The structure serves as observatory and weather station for the Expeditionary Corps.

Construction

The Yzmir transported bark fragments from The Nilam using powerful magic. The bark panels are stitched together into makeshift walls, uneven and mismatched, patched with Alteration. The bark’s resistance to The Tumult was the decisive factor in its use.

Research Functions

Tumult Studies: The facility houses Yzmir Tumult theorists and climatologists. Through their research, Horomancy practitioners work to predict mutagenic flow trajectories and identify potential singularities.

Magical Laboratories: The Spires contain laboratories where Initiates pursue esoteric studies.

Dimensional Pocket Laboratory: At the seventh branch, a portal on the wall leads to a laboratory existing neither in reality nor The Empyrean. In 393 AC, Afanas Korovinovich visited this space with Fasano, where Kuwat Vasanti, Isikeli, Moyo Chibuye, and Saskia Averina studied a Nilam larva.

Mana Moths Research: The Vivarium, an artificial habitat crafted from Nilam bark, houses Mana Moths swarms raised by entomologists under joint supervision of Moyo Chibuye and Saskia Averina.

Nilam Larva: In 393 AC, researchers discovered a dormant larva inside The Nilam’s bark. Saskia Averina was called to study the specimen, which grew from fist-sized to approximately the size of a medium dog.

Sap Research: A workshop studies Sap for magical applications. Researchers discovered that inhaling Sap vapors sharpens focus for Mana manipulation. The facility produces infusion sachets for Yzmir mages on expeditions.
