Overview

Akesha Adhikari (called “Kesh”), born 375 AC, is a Yzmir Initiate and hero who specializes in Eidomancy and Horomancy, with additional proficiency in Kinemancy. She is bonded with Taru, a luminescent octopus-like creature from The Tumult, through The Musubi ceremony. Akesha seeks a cure for Remanence, the affliction that has stricken her younger sister Kumari Adhikari.

Background

Early Life in Kuth Kanat

Akesha was born in an ornate troglodyte palazzo in the aristocratic district of Kuth Kanat. She was trained from a young age for a political vocation, attending classes taught by tutors in music, dance, history, management, and etiquette. With the birth of Kumari, three years her junior, Kesh became her sister’s primary caregiver while their parents were occupied with diplomatic duties. The two girls would sneak out of the palazzo and climb The Kadigir’s enclosure wall, exploring magical gardens and becoming known to The Magisterium’s teaching staff.

The Well of Tears Accident

During one escapade, the sisters stumbled upon a breach in rock and followed carved chutes where water flowed upward, unknowingly entering The Well of Tears, the sacred sanctuary of Yzmir. Beneath the underground lake, luminescent shapes moved—images that intertwined and combined. Kumari stepped toward the edge to touch the spectral emanations but slipped into the dark iridescent waters. Kesh rushed forward grabbing her sister’s hand, but her own steps skidded on mossy walls. The Eidolon Nimue appeared and seized Kumari, pulling her from the icy waters.

Kumari had ingested water, absorbing large amounts of pure Ether. Neither Baku nor Caladrius could fully restore her mental health, and she remained subject to visions and bouts of madness, interned within The Cloister at The Kadigir.

Joining the Yzmir

Akesha joined the ranks of Yzmir Disciples after the accident, dedicating herself to the study of esoteric arts. She had the support of Kuwat Vasanti, an Eidolon and former Magister of the Eidomancy Sphere, who became her official mentor. Under Vasanti’s patronage, she trained while reserving periods to visit her interned sister. She became the youngest apprentice to receive a master’s robe at fourteen years old.

Meeting Taru

During an experiment using Aether, the veil between worlds thinned and a creature slipped through—Taru, a luminescent octopus with translucent tentacles. Taru was injured, and Akesha helped heal the creature. Over weeks, they bonded through The Musubi, synchronizing their essences. Through this bond, Taru can sense Akesha’s emotions and intentions.

378 AC - Meeting Lindiwe Through Taru

Taru sensed presence through Veil and introduced Akesha to Lindiwe, who was using Eidomancy to help her see despite blindness.

383 AC - Exploring Kadigir Gardens with Kumari

Akesha and Kumari snuck into The Kadigir gardens, hiding from students and teachers while exploring groves and orchards.

384 AC - Seeking Alchemist’s Cure

Akesha brought saved Florets to Kadigiran alchemist Takao Cordisco, describing Kumari’s illness and requesting a potion or ointment to heal her.

385 AC - Meeting Alice

After Kumari’s crisis, Alice appeared through wall and dragged Akesha through ground, showing her the Aether world.

387 AC - Magical Training with Aether Fragment

Akesha held Aether fragment against chest to summon ideas from collective unconscious, attempting to summon White Rabbit to steal time for Kumari.

391 AC - Monitoring Black Wave with Baba Yaga

Akesha was assigned to monitor The Black Wave alongside Baba Yaga from isba on chicken legs.

391 AC - Summoning Sakarabru

When The Black Wave quivered and aberrations emerged, Akesha summoned Sakarabru who roared and scattered chimeric monsters.

391 AC - Banishing Chimaera Through Portal

Taru wrapped sticky legs around monster’s head while Akesha traced Signs to slow time, summoned portal, and banished aberration.

392 AC, September - Underwater Rescue of Aegis Soldiers

Akesha dove beneath surface during Kraken battle, summoned portal to dry land, and rescued Aegis soldiers swallowed by waves.

392 AC, September - Observing Celestial Blast Technique

Akesha observed Afanas and Senka’s technique of making fire rain from sky.

392 AC, October-December - Bureaucratic Obstruction

Waru Toowoom blocked The Kadigir Mages’ authority to maintain Mandates order aboard The Ouroboros.

393 AC - Caladrius Triage After Mining Accident

Akesha maintained composure as a carrier delivered wounded to The Ouroboros’s crowded deck after a mining accident. She watched medics perform triage, sorting patients by injury severity. Caladrius flew between critical patients giving verdicts—if it looked away, nothing could be done; if it stared, doctors treated the victim. Akesha held the hand of a dying miner whose breathing grew raspy after Caladrius departed, staying by his side while Taru sent kind thoughts as he breathed his last.

393 AC, February - Mana Moths Chrysalides Deployment

Akesha arrived through portal during Belisenki night assault on Ordis convoy at Storhvit, bringing Initiates and Eidolons as reinforcements. She unfurled cloth revealing collection of empty Mana Moths cocoons made of ice/crystal with traces of blue liquid, instructing soldiers including Gulrang Oduro to consume the chrysalides quickly. After consumption, Belisenki ceased attacking and departed, no longer perceiving expedition members as intruders due to absorbed pheromones.

393 AC, February - Belisenki Pheromone Hypothesis Testing

Akesha tested the hypothesis that Belisenki would protect beings exuding moth pheromones by ingesting a chrysalis and exposing herself to a Belasenka, confirming the protection mechanism worked.

393 AC, February - Greenhouse Research Visit

Akesha visited multi-biome greenhouse at Storhvit base to deliver new plant specimen. She encountered Saskia Averina conducting Mana Moths research with Moyo Chibuye, observing chrysalides attached to branches and witnessing moth hatching under glass dome. Saskia explained moths emit Mana continuously after emerging from cocoon and described moths as creatures of pure idea with Mana dissipating over brief lifespan.

393 AC, February - Magpeng Theft and Icy Containment

After magpeng stole maple syrup supplies, duty officer’s hat, and Fen’s scarf, Akesha followed webbed footprints to confront thief and blasted it with icy gust sealing creature in thick layer of ice.

393 AC, February - Mana Moths Attraction

At Storhvit, Akesha observed Mana Moths swirling in flight diffusing Mana into air, then raised hand with Mana drop allowing moth to land and sip liquid.

393 AC, February - Summoning Aroro During Storm

During Afanas’s blizzard attack at Storhvit, Akesha watched as something took possession of him, then summoned Aroro Niski Eidolon to contain devastation.

393 AC, February - Mana Moths Manifestation Technique

Akesha combined Kinemancy with Taru using ballet movements to manifest swarm of moths by studying their behavior patterns and anatomy using Irises, with each pirouette gathering more moths into compact swarms crafted from ideas and Mana.

393 AC, March 26 - Letter to Kumari from Storvhit Ascent

Akesha wrote letter to Kumari Adhikari from deep within Storhvit heart describing conditions and expedition progress. She noted proximity to Oasis center where expedition would shelter until Tumult hurricane subsides, and mentioned spending time talking with Saskia Averina who might help find cure for Kumari Adhikari’s condition.

393 AC, June-August - Encounter with Sylas at Nilam Spires

While searching for Saskia Averina at Nilam Spires, Akesha pushed open a workshop door and found Sylas sitting in the center of the room covered in Sigils while a Gephyromancer tattooist applied Aether patterns. Sylas spread his arms in welcome; Akesha left and encountered Saskia outside.

393 AC, June-August - Crow’s Eye Descent Advice

Three nights before Teija’s descent into The Crow’s Eye, Akesha told Teija “You never know what you’ll find when you fall down the rabbit hole.”

393 AC, June-August - BLISS! Concert and Cure Lead

Akesha sat with Saskia Averina on terrace at The Screed watching BLISS! perform. She learned Moyo Chibuye left Nilam Spires to descend into City of Scholars to test connection with Mana Moths. Saskia revealed researchers found still-living larva inside The Nilam’s bark, now grown from fist-size to medium dog after being raised in lab. Saskia indicated she may have found lead to help heal Kumari.

393 AC, June-September - Merlin’s Involuntary Manifestation

Merlin materialized before Akesha in the City of Scholars labyrinth by siphoning her memories without permission and delivered a prophecy: “Destiny is in motion… The king will awaken, and you will play your part.”

393 AC, June-September - Treating Remanence Attack in Labyrinth

While traveling with two Bravos warriors (covert Qorgan agents) left by Afanas Korovinovich, Akesha applied experimental leeches from Saskia Averina to treat a pendekar suffering a Remanence attack.

393 AC, September - Slowing The Maze’s Collapse

Akesha participated in the Exalt operation against The Hunger in The Maze. When Treyst triggered explosive charges that detonated the Aerolith cores of the Tesseracts in a chain reaction, Akesha used her abilities to slow the collapse while Yzmir mages opened portals to evacuate the Exalts.
