Mnemosyne

Overview

Mnemosyne is the goddess of memory and mother of the Muses, also known as The Nine Sisters. She is believed to hold the memory of the world and to shed light on all that humanity has forgotten. Each of The Nine Sisters serves as tutelary patron to a Lyra Saraband, and each Matriarch serves as the voice of one Muse. As their mother, Mnemosyne theoretically holds authority over The Nine Sisters and could impose her will upon them.

Quests to Find Mnemosyne

Cayrat Steinn, the former Shepherd of the Kasirga Clan, sought to find Mnemosyne, believing only she could hold the memory of the world. After his death, Esmeralda continued this quest, understanding that finding Mnemosyne might allow Cayrat Steinn to persist as an Eidolon rather than fading into nothingness.

Nevenka suggested to Fen that if she sought forgotten knowledge about The Song of One, finding Mnemosyne would be the way—she would surely know the words since she remembers everything.

Timeline

393 AC - Fen’s Strategy

During leisure at Storvhit hot springs, Fen confided her plan to Auraq: find The Song of One to reunite The Nine Matriarchs as Chiara Caceres once did, seek Mnemosyne who holds all world’s memories and knows the Song’s words, then call upon her Eidolon to convince the Muses to sway the Matriarchs. Auraq suspected someone had planted the idea about seeking Mnemosyne, noting the mention seemed no coincidence alongside the Kasirga Clan exile.

Current Status

Mnemosyne’s whereabouts are unknown. She exists somewhere within the world’s memory, potentially accessible through the Rediscovery Endeavor’s exploration beyond Asgartha.
