Kasirga Clan

Overview

The Kasirga Clan is one of the nine Lyra Sarabands, specializing in aerial acrobatics, gymnastics, tightrope walking, and related circus arts. The Clan’s members include aerialists, animal trainers, and clowns. After electing an Eidolon as their Shepherd — the first among the nine Clans to do so — the Kasirga were banished from the Lyra alliance by The Nine Matriarchs. Following their exile, the Clan joined the Rediscovery Endeavor, offering their Sahanka The Ouroboros to the Expeditionary Corps.

Sahanka: The Ouroboros

The Ouroboros is a massive airborne ring, kept aloft by an Aerolith core at its center and turning perpetually on its axis. The outer surface is covered in ornamental carvings, while the interior houses an entire settlement built on a stationary framework of interconnected levels, stairways, and suspended walkways — a vertical city unto itself. Migratory bird flocks accompany the structure as it drifts across Asgartha. The Ouroboros is also known for its casino, a gambling hall that draws visitors from across the peninsula.

When the Kasirga joined the Rediscovery Endeavor, Axiom engineers modified the hull to withstand The Tumult, converting the Sahanka into a mobile outpost. Admiral Temera Singh took up residence aboard with her staff, and numerous barracks were constructed to house military personnel. The casino, taverns, and entertainment halls were left intact. The conversion required sacrificing one of the Ouroboros’s two circuses and converting several performance halls into housing.

Leadership

Cayrat Steinn

Cayrat Steinn was the former Shepherd of the Kasirga Clan. He aspired to locate Mnemosyne, mother of the nine Muses, convinced that she alone retained knowledge of everything humanity had forgotten. Over the course of his life, Cayrat and Esmeralda developed a bond despite one being mortal and the other an Eidolon. She remained at his side until his final moments. His body was given over to the Tumult in a funerary rite, and the devotion he inspired allowed him to persist as an Eidolon afterward. Before his death, Cayrat designated Esmeralda as his successor.

Esmeralda

The Clan elders honored Cayrat’s wish and elected Esmeralda as Shepherdess. She adopted the search for Mnemosyne as the Clan’s guiding purpose, seeking to recover what centuries of Tumult had erased from collective knowledge — the goal Cayrat had pursued throughout his life. Esmeralda is an Eidolon who rides a giant goat named Djali, and her permanent incarnation requires a continuous flow of Mana from the Clan’s elders.

The Banishment

The Kasirga became the first among the nine Lyra Clans to elect an Eidolon as Shepherd. The Nine Matriarchs declared that only a mortal could hold the role — one capable of serving as vessel for the Matriarch’s voice. When the Clan elders refused to reverse their decision, the Matriarchs delivered an ultimatum: persist, and face exile from the Lyra alliance. The elders did not yield. The Nine Sisters enforced the banishment, and the Clan has borne the stigma of exile since.

Esmeralda privately believes that Amahle Kalu, once marginalized among the Eidolons, had by then rebuilt enough standing to sway the Clan elders toward choosing her — as if they intended to sever their link to the Matriarchs of their own accord. She has disclosed this belief to no one.

Joining the Rediscovery Endeavor

After their exile, Esmeralda spoke to the Clan, revealing a hope: to find The Lost Tribe of the Tumult Nomads. With luck, the nomads would accept them, and the world beyond the peninsula would become their new territory. Esmeralda decided to offer The Ouroboros to the Expeditionary Corps as a mobile outpost. While preparations were underway, the Clan scattered — some settled in the Ruzzante district of Arkaster to perform in theaters, others tried their luck in other cities or retreated to isolated chalets, and part of the Clan found refuge in the limestone caverns of Haven.

Communication

The Clan’s long-distance communication relies on Itoro, an Inkcaster who produces ink birds as messengers. Through her calligraphic Alteration, she generates flocks of sparrow-like constructs from pigment, each carrying a written message to scattered Clan members.
