Irises
Overview
Irises are a perception technique practiced within Horomancy, one of the five Spheres of The Naali. When activated, the practitioner’s eyes take on a strange hue and their pupils shift to display geometric patterns, opening their sight to the metaphysical dimension of reality.
Capabilities
Through Irises, a practitioner can see beneath the physical form of beings and things to perceive the intertwining Aether and Quintessence, as well as the pulsing Mana anchoring them to the world. This allows practitioners to distinguish Eidolons from mortals, perform diagnostic examinations to identify parasitic ideas grafted onto individuals, track opponents through camouflage, and analyze observed techniques for reproduction.
Limitations
The Qorgan has developed methods to materialize Eidolons that are completely undetectable even to those with the sharpest Irises, representing a known limit of the technique’s perceptive reach.
Enhancement
Irises can be enhanced with Arcolano Milk, which provides a heightened extrasensory state. In Lindiwe’s case, Arcolano Milk awakened Iris-like perception in someone who was physically blind, allowing her to perceive through ideas rather than through her senses. Yzmir Initiates determined that she perceived not through sight but by directly welcoming into her mind the ideas resonating around her.
